At the Edge of Defeat

This episode just left me speechless

As much as the villain that he is, Squealer do deserve some credit. That meticulous planning is the only merit I’ll acknowledge him for. Who would’ve thought he’d be able to raise Maria and Mamoru’s child to be a powerful weapon? I guess that’s what was meant when Shun warned Saki and told her to kill Maria. If Maria dies, Squealer would’ve been denied of such a great opportunity.

But I guess, what excites me the most in this episode is how he (Squealer) was able to put every human psychic at a great disadvantage. These people bound themselves too tightly with their laws that it literally became their grave. The idea of “Death Feedback” may have once been their greatest hope but now, it became their biggest mistake. Then again, perhaps their creation of the Queerats was their biggest blunder.

Creating slaves isn’t really a bad thing but slaves with intelligence and self-awareness? Humanity really dug itself in deep shit. With “Death Feedback” protecting them from their kind, and Queerats doing the odd jobs for them, humanity sat on the lofty heavens, blinded by their sense of dominance and security. Being an ass that I am, I do enjoy seeing great powers topple over thanks to their arrogance. And while it is rather unfortunate for Saki, seeing how Kaburagi Shuhei and the rest die because they fear their own death, how human psychics have been played with Queerat tactics, I feel satisfied.

If humanity came to the point where its arrogance blinded itself COMPLETELY, then they deserved that kind of punishment. They valued their rules and regulations, their sense of comfort and security, that they assumed no force could ever threaten them… They were wrong.
