I don’t know how long it has been since Kouichi was defeated but where the fuck is Sonan? And Endoh singing the opening theme just when Daimidaler II was summoned was pretty awsm!
Chaika may have no noteworthy feature against the top contenders for this season but I still find myself enjoying this show. It may be slow at times but the overall pacing and plot sincerely piques my interest especially after having a fair idea on what they are based on the wounds around their necks.
Odd that I actually held on to this series unlike Black Bullet which I dropped after Kagetane’s arc. Well, I’ve been hearing rumors that the next arc was actually good but I need some convincing to decide to pick that up again.
Episode 6 of Not! actually made me realize why this series is slow as fuck. It’s because all of them are still learning the ropes. Unlike its predecessor that hurled our characters straight to shonen-esque battles, Not! is more of an exploration of personality from a weak-willed weapon’s perspective.
And I respect that. If anything, this slow pace with a side of turmoil thanks to Shaula’s machinations is fitting for this series’ flow which, surprisingly, makes it enjoyable.
Probably one of the slowest-paced series for this season yet the most adorable (except for Hase who bitches 24/7). This may be a boring series thanks to its slow pace but the consistency to present a slow but sure growth in helping Fujimiya overcome her issues with her friends is definitely its greatest asset. They really ironed out character development on this one.
Motivational while retaining a great sense of wit and a slice of comedy. Another faithful manga adaptation done right.
Matsuoka really knows his shit when it comes to these characters. Having him voice Aito brings out this character that’s easy to sympathize with yet turns out to be your everyday ass. I don’t seem to care how short an episode is anymore but just enjoy 12 or so minutes worth of good laughs.
It’s not just Matsuoka knowing his shit when it comes to NGNL, I bet everyone of the staff behind this series knows what the fuck they are doing every time they produce a goddamned glorious episode: what appeals the most to their target demographic.
Interesting ploy? Check. Witty battles? Check. Wincest? Check. Slutty Angels? Check. Kemonomimi? Check. A Healthy Kind of “Nude”!?…
This is definitely THE show for this season that defies the norm and brazenly provides its own kind of fanservice. And the best part? Its target demographic loves it!
There may be a dull pacing for this series but there was never a dull moment especially when Kohaku begins their battles.
And if anything, what I really like is that they don’t treat anyone stupid (the viewers or even Steph). So far, every rule of the game or the exploit behind a trick has been a logical attempt at victory. Even the absurd shiritori summoning that may look complex was summed up with its three core rules, and was played and exploited really well. To be honest, I never expected Kohaku to destroy the universe just because of that game. How awsm was that?!
