Harvest

THANK YOU COMMIE!!

For some reason the thought of alien-invaders-committing-acts-of-genocide-because-they-bred-us-to-be-game is a fresh idea for me in a sci-fi mecha anime. The concept isn’t that unique to be honest, but there’s something with how they presented the idea in MJP that makes it sell.

Be it Jiart’s consistent mentioning of hunt and prey or the rituals held by the Wulgaru to assess the “value” of their targets or the short narrative that the OP song tells, there’s really that flair of imagination that nods to how well they invested the kind of story that MJP offers.

While we finally rest easy in knowing what the Wulgaru is after, they opened up new inquiries with regard to Teoria’s relationship with Izuru. That and other questions that probe deeper to MJP’s intentions and origins. I mean, will there really be other teams capable of piloting AHSMB units? What about Team Doberman? If Team Rabbits’ units were the completed version of Human-Wulgaru technology then what about Team Doberman’s? And how were the pilots trained and conditioned to operate AHSMB and the Julia System? If the MJP program aims to train individuals then why were 5 loses selected instead of more suitable candidates?

Ah man, thought-provoking revelations backed up with good character development and intense battles really makes this series lovable.

Lots more questions for sure, but this episode revealed much more than I expected they would at this point. The relationship drama looks to get complicated as well. Not sure how things will go from here, but I hope they won’t be using the monster/alien of the week format or something :p.

I have a feeling that as long as that retarded commander is in-charge, the following episodes may turn out to be mission-specific skirmishes against the Wulgaru. I certainly hope not though.
