Despite the filler-episode feel, I think they did a good job in preparing the series for its remaining episodes. Setting up the events that led Suzuno to doubt Mao’s actions as well as hinting that Sentuky’s Mitsuki could be an ally of the church from Ente Isla feels as if a conclusive clash will come down that will make everyone rethink of their positions and allegiances.
Especially Emi. All this time, she’s been saying that she’s the hero and Mao is her sworn enemy but after seeing his change of heart, I wonder what Emi truly feels. About her current situation, her past hardships, her destiny and privileged position? Despite knowing that Shiho has feelings for Mao and seeing how he has, more or less, changed, can she still have the resolve to kill him?
