Quoting Anonymous Coward:
I wish for the Shironeko end, but it’s being held hostage by unresolved Kyousuke/Kirino relationship. And I don’t expect even a decent conclusion here…
And here I was, expecting the entire episode to be totally cloud 9 and diabetes but dang, why the fuck does it feel that Kyousuke’s interaction with Kirino felt more special in this episode than with Ruri?
I don’t think my morale was critically hit by what Anonymous Coward said. If anything, his/her comment was spot on but, after seeing this episode, how Ruri and Kyousuke ARE in a relationship, why does it feel evident that the girlfriend holds lesser value than the sister?
The series is leaving shit up for interpretation. It’s an accomplished marketing strategy after all. I mean, for what it’s worth, they may truly be aiming for the wincest route here by showing us dilemmas through relationships and sibling similarities that border on the thought of romance.
For example, I would interpret Kirino and Kyousuke banging their heads when they’re on cloud 9, aside from whatever fantasizing masturbation they have in mind, to be how they react when they engaged themselves on a level of a romantic relationship. Kirino with her date with Kyousuke and Kyousuke going out with Ruri.
Just like how Mikagami, and the rest of the computer club, misunderstood Kyousuke’s relationships, this series is making a profitable yet excellent trollface to the viewers, baiting fans with the promise of this fucked-up red string of fate.
Again, I don’t see this as a bad thing. Marketing strategies that stimulate the viewer’s emotions sell fucking well but on a personal note, it would definitely piss me off if this series ended without a clear resolution.
And I’m not talking about mending the sister-brother relationship but rather seeing how the romance ends. Fans who gambled on this series, betting, fighting over Ruri vs Kirino pairs ought to be rewarded by a clear victor by the end. If anything, I guess this is what most of us is watching for. Who gets chosen and who gets left out.
