Nyaruko may be full of bullshit most of the time but by the end of the day, she’s still a maiden in love and this episode is a strong testament to such devotion. And to be honest, I felt sorry for her. When she finally exploded and narrated how many flags she’s been giving away, how her effort always ends up in vain, it just tugs the heart.
In a way, Nyaruko reminds me strongly of Rikka from Haganai. They both wanted to trigger certain romance flags but the protagonist just ignores them. It may be due to their lively personality that tend to annoy most people out but, as Nyaruko said, there’s nothing wrong with that. They didn’t do anything wrong. As characters who obviously act based on their feelings, I appreciate their efforts as a viewer. They were made to be overly clingy and extremely energetic to a fault but the narrative which they emphasize their dere~ side is told clearly and effectively.
As for this ongoing plot, I don’t think Mahiro will ever decide on who to pick. This feels like a troll and all but this series has been trying to act neutral all-throughout and Mahiro being a dick makes me think that this series won’t be ending “for good” any time soon.
