Together ; Apart

WHAT A TEASE!! FUCK!! So as the episode ends, we catch a glimpse of Rinon hanging out with Lemon and the story draws to a close with this leaving me wondering if Ichika did come back for Kaito but hey, I’m a sucker for happy endings and this anime deserve every ounce of happiness so yeah, this must’ve been the case.

Comparing AnoNatsu (Ano Natsu de Matteru) with AnoHana (Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai), I think the latter was able to move me more. I’m not saying that this series doesn’t have any good points but it just felt weak. It doesn’t stand out on its own and it simply rehashed a typical boy meets girl setting with not much deviation or uniqueness from the norm.

That is to say, this anime bore me most of the time but I still enjoyed it. There’s simply nothing particular that made this stand out. Perhaps if you’re an avid fan of romance/slice of life anime then maybe AnoNatsu is for you.

Heh, I enjoyed the fun parts of this anime more than anything else (MIB FTW XD). The relationships, though well portrayed, never really got to the point where it was satisfactorily concluded for me. AnoHana was pretty much the same in some ways. What makes this one stands out for me was the lack of anime romance cliché set up that we see way too often, and yet the romance part of the story was pretty compelling.

As for “happy ending” for the main couple, well the “movie” we see at the end was supposed to be shown after they have graduated, so it would be at least one year or most like two or more years after (given that they were in their second year). Also that outfit Ichika wore was the same one Nanami bought, so one could assume she came back somehow. Probably broke a ton of galactic laws with lots of help from her sister or something. Could make a great sequel, but I think it might be good to just let it end here.
