Birth of Darkness

*Plays Imperial Deathmarch BGM*

Remember that time, that turning point, when Lelouch became so fucked-up because Euphemia died? It finally happened here in Guilty Crown and this is definitely the sweetest episode that I could…

So Shu lost their most useful ally in this episode, and along with it, his sanity. Well, thank Souta for being doubtful of Shu’s resolve to stick to his word. I mean, if he really trusts Shu, he wouldn’t do something so stupid as to prove their worth to him. His little escapade to secure vaccines with a handful of useless void wielders led Hare to her demise.

Then again, we should also blame Shu for not bringing either Inori or Yahiro which contains combat-capable voids. His judgment to go out there unprepared also caused Hare’s death since he couldn’t even save her from the attacking enemies.

This episode also confronts us of the burden Shu has to bear. Since being selected as president previously, this episode did a good job summing up the issues that Shu needs to take seriously for his position as well as the dramatic transformation that he had experienced.

Which leaves me wondering what they have been doing during the past few days after Shu became president. I was expecting Shu to commit an offensive measure, even going as far as contacting the Undertakers or anyone from the outside in order to forcefully gain help but it seems that they are taking their sweet time, setting up barricades and whittling down their supply of vaccines as the Red Zone draws closer which doesn’t make sense unless… it is Shu or Yahiro’s intention to have the enemy stand close at their gates before drawing a counterattack.

On other pressing issues, did Shibungi sold out the Undertakers? Who was it that he wanted to meet?

    A good possibility considering Haruka Ouma seem to be checking “someone” up a few episodes ago, probably the reason why she sided with Shuuichiro.

    Eye candy level dropping (almost?) to the minimum. The pacing is a mess. I’m starting to wonder if I really want to continue to watch this one.

    I’m supporting the idea that he wants to meet Gai. Actually, since his first “fake” death, I couldn’t believe he really died.
    And I still do think he’s somehow related to Daryl

    @X

    you watch it because of Inori, Ayase, and Tsugumi

    Gai’s death… pics or it didn’t happen. I guess he’s just “stuck” with Mana after all that but to think that they both fell to enemy hands?

    Well, I watch it for eye candy in general (not just those girls, there are other characters and good looking scenes) :p. It’s dropping real fast in the last few episodes though. Story and plot wise, I find this anime going nowhere interesting for me (but that’s partly my bias against this type of story).
