Denpa Kyoushi

So what would happen if Katsuragi Keima grew up to become Great Teacher Onizuka?

Meet Junichirou Kagami, a genius graduate whose motivations for succeeding in college revolves around anime. After proposing a theory akin to one of Doraemon’s devices (garnering awards at that), he decided to become a full-fledged neet not until his sister (which reminds me of Kirino from Oreimo) forces him to become a teacher on his alma mater.

As with Katsuragi Keima, we have another otaku enthusiast taking up the helm for this series, using his knowledge to effectively put into practice the positive motivations and inspirations one can attain by being an otaku. As with Kaminomi, this manga spices things with its broad sense of imagination. Sure, it may sound deus ex or rather, cliche, more often than not, but there’s really something refreshing with how protagonists like Junichi and Katsuragi turn the tables against their ‘enemies’ (i.e. society) by employing such unorthodox methods; Junichirou references anime/manga and pits it against society’s viewpoint while Keima uses gaming knowledge to pickup girls.

Now it’s still too early to say what direction this manga is headed since it’s only at 5 translated chapters but do know that this is a welcome change of pace from the usual wit that Kaminomi delivers considering how it introduces the fandom that most of us commonly share (you must probably be an otaku if you’re reading this) on a whole different perspective.

Interesting manga. The scenario feels a tiny bit too contrived, but it is enjoyable. The rather strong views on society and independent thinking might turn some off, but for many otaku, this is a refreshing look at fandom culture. I’m just interested in seeing how the protagonist’s life philosophy will mesh with whatever gets thrown at him. That alone makes this worth reading.

life’s lessons are nothing out of the ordinary for this manga but the scenarios where they are applied have to be unique in order to actually grab interest. glad you seem to like this manga 😀
