ALL HAIL BURITTAAAAN- wait… whut?

Completing the list of new anime for this season, Guilty Crown engages viewers with something… we are quite familiar with.

Jumping on the bandwagon on how this anime forms a striking resemblance with Code Geass, Guilty Crown features a crap-ton of eye candy; from goddamn revealing suits, slutty bodies, mechas, and a god fucking awsm seiyuu cast. What’s not to like with this anime?

For some reason, I want Kana Hanazawa to take on masochist roles *nosebleed*

Except for the fact that we’ve already seen this.

No, I’m not being a dick here who prefers anime with plot or has an unusual appetite for watching something new all the fucking time. I’m simply drawing a comparison.

While Guilty Crown bears a strong resemblance with Code Geass when it comes to first episode impressions, I still think this anime lacks the impact that Code Geass episode 1 left.

I sense the F-word in this anime

After watching the first episode of Geass, I could still remember the freshness of the idea of that anime. It wasn’t just something that I’ve seen for the first time (people dubbed it as Death Note with mecha after all) but rather, the impression that the protagonist, Lelouch Lamperouge, left to the audience.

It was not the fact that the protagonist gained the power to enslave others but how the protagonist dramatically changed from a wimp genius shit to supreme emperor of the universe in one motherfucking episode. From the moment Lelouch realized his power, he already know what his goals are. Compare and contrast to Guilty Crown where we have a cowardly protagonist who gained the power to summon badass swords and athletically leap and cut a mecha… which can’t even be considered as today’s news headlines.

I’m not saying this anime is bad, right off the bat. The animation quality, character designs, and seiyuu cast are very much impressive and I admit that I enjoyed this episode. It’s just that I find it a waste to have something this grand not deliver something more memorable for its initial run. Hopefully, the juicy bits will catch up next episode.

The eyecandy and music. Got to love the character designs and the amazing animation. :3

There’s Code Geass comparisons all over the place online (and I’m guilty of it too), but I think Geass had a better first impression. Hopefully the creators manage to learn from their previous experiences with their respective series (Death note, Geass, etc)
