The feelings of a caged bird

This episode left me wanting to watch ep 9 and 4.5 ASAP but since Ayako is yet to sub it, let’s leave it at that. I believe that the core highlight of episode 8 of IkoMei is the relationship shared between Claude and Camille.

Camille’s remarks ever since the last episode hints how things have changed between them and how she’s suffering because of Parisian standards. From her exchange with Alice about marriage, it seems that Camille is to be engaged to some guy she can never love but for the sake of appearances and for her to contribute something to her family, she must carry on such a burden.

Oddly though, I realized by the end of the episode that she’s not a bitter person, unlike how she presented herself to the viewer, evidenced by her serious tone during her exchange with both Claude and Yune. I’m fairly surprised how she gives vibes of not wanting Alice to follow her footsteps. Perhaps, she realizes that whatever strength she lacked to oppose her fate, she found in Alice’s attitude. Her rash and courageous nature and venturing into the unknown, compared to a caged bird, Alice is already soaring on a dragon’s wings.

But this still leaves me wondering what truly is her will? My gut tells me that whatever she’s doing now, she’s doing it for the sake of her sister, Alice and also, in one mysterious way or another, she’s doing it for the sake of Claude, symbolic of giving Yune the dress that she wore when she was younger. But how? If she sees herself in Yune when she was younger, does this mean that she’s giving Claude to her care, a feat that Camille could never accomplish, back in her youth? For some reason, she’s giving off heroic vibes here… or something coming from a tragedy… Or perhaps i’m just fucking paranoid X_X

Anyways, need ep 9 and 4.5 already! AYAKO HURRY!! >_<

Heh, yeah. Camille is probably the most misunderstood character in this anime for various reasons. I think there is some bitterness in her feelings sometimes, though it does not overwhelms nor cloud her judgment. I think she has not completely given up on Claude though. Though I doubt I can see Claude ever giving in to her :p

Who knows, I think Claude is, like most male protagonists, a dumbass when it comes to realizing the affections of their “partners”. Should everything be explained to him properly, maybe he’ll reconsider.

Well, it’s hard to say what he will do for sure, but I get the impression that he has pretty strong feelings of his own that can rival any of the girls in this show. Will see about where this goes.
