Kaminomi II finale: A prelude to the next stage

‎”The real world is a crappy game, the ideal world can only be found within a game. Such was my belief. But if an ideal can be found within a crappy game, there may be an ideal route in the real world for me to discover.”

– Katsuragi Keima, Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai

I am at a loss of words on how great this ending came to be. The full content of the manga was supposed to be B’s ware’s invitation to Keima to lend them his advice in creating the ideal game but the part where we get to explore how awsm Yokkyun’s game was totally anime original. If anything, the impact of that game to Keima gave everything meaning. It’s quite surprising how one episode, how one game turned all of Keima’s beliefs against him. But what is Keima’s ideal route? What does he aim for?

This is quite a good topic worth on noting considering how his new resolve will be put to the test in the next season. Can Keima say, after all the shit that he’ll be going through, that everything came to be his ideal? That all his experiences lead him closer to his ideal world?

This episode is a prelude of more great things to come. The ending targets made sure of that, not to mention, hearing the nostalgic “God Only Knows” just made my blood pumping. Damn, that was really a good scene to finish this season. I do hope they stay consistent from here on.

Coming to realize a certain things, Kaminomi s2 focused more on handling “ideals”: From Kusunoki’s ideal strength, Chihiro’s ideal self, and Nagase’s ideal way of being a teacher. A definitive leap from the first season where it tackled “stereotypes”: Where Ayumi was the stereotype sports girl, Mio as the tsundere, Kanon as the idol, and Shiori as the bookworm. For s3, considering the lineup presented, I think it’ll be focusing on the “real”. A fitting continuation of Keima’s anime-only(?) discovery of finding an ideal route in the (crappy) real world.

Oh and not to forget, this hint…

and this spoiler…

Add them up together and the craziest pressure on Keima descends… Well considering that these girls transcend through time, affecting the events of hell before the events of Kaminomi, it all makes sense how Keima’s search for the ideal in the real world will be greatly affected by the trials ahead.

Though I am skeptical that they’ll be able to start off that arc next season considering the number of targets that Keima had to go through before reaching her. Well, there’s always a season 4 😀

That ending left me wanting more.
    And I wasn’t even a fan.

Keima grew a lot in this season, it’s like he finally became a real protagonist. At least for me.

Well, Keima’s transition of a God to a Man was quite subtle over the course of Kaminomi. But well, the fun is yet to come

Agreed. This is on adaptation done right. Though I have to admit, Yokkyun was much funnier in the manga because she’s much… dare I say, uglier.

    The soundtrack is out.

Track 20,21 still tugs the heartstrings after so long from watching the episode.

Track 28: Keima can sing!!! 😛 Wakaki wrote the lyrics!

I think I enjoy the second season’s soundtrack more than the first. I love the piano work (usually I prefer guitar).

They should release singles for the songs in some of these tracks.

Yeah, read that a while ago. I don’t know of any other mangaka getting such a fun bio write up online.

Sigh, can’t wait for season 3. Specially after the last episode in season 2. Not so much because of the spoilers (which I think they overdid it a little). The way they made Yokkyun such a big deal for Keima. Knowing the next arc, I want to see Keima dealing with getting thrown with insults from the “real” :p . Funny how I usually do not enjoy watching the protagonist getting insulted like that. It is not that I do not empathize with Keima’s point of view. I’m not sure why, but somehow with kaminomi, it feels different.

Not sure if you have see this, but for Type Moon fans: “Carnival Phantasm”

Should be out in a few days. Looks like it might be based-on/sequel-to? a drama cd called “ALL AROUND TYPE-MOON~アーネンエルベの日常” that came out a while ago I think (there was even a doujin based on the drama-cd).

Yeah, they changed it a bit. I almost fell out of my seat when they started doing the wave. This will be a fun one, though, if one intends to watch Fate/Zero, I’m wondering if this might ruin it XD

well this seems to be an OVA according to MyAnimeList so I could hardly see any impact this would contribute against Fate/Zero considering how limited OVA releases are… it may be me though

Well, after this, I don’t think can watch them in a serious scene without laughing my head off.

I would expect UTW to sub this. I’m sure there are others who will pick it up, even if they were not interested in type moon stuff.

And so i’ve heard but I’m not actually a fan of Amagami SS since I hardly had the time to watch the entire 1st season… Heard it was kinky tho

heh, I guessed as much. It probably takes less time to play the game through all the routes than to watch the entire anime season. At the rate they are going, they probably will provide more routes than the game itself. XD
