C ep 6: Because corporations carry people’s hopes and dreams

Another enjoyable episode as we get to see how powerful the members of the guild are as well as how serious they are in helping the economy on a global scale. Aside from Mikuni’s pointers for Kimimaro, we get to learn how much impact defeat can lead to in the financial district. Perhaps, if it were small fries like Kimimaro or his sensei, all of it would’ve been fine with the world but when major companies go toppling down, it creates a huge effect that concerns and threatens society itself. Being reminded of Afk’s explanation of asset attacks, I guess it’s no surprise of how Mikuni used his “White Knight” strategy to save Basho Pharmaceutical, preventing the loss and damage caused by that thoughtless and greedy deal.

True to what Mikuni said near the end of the episode, “People who’re obsessed with money can’t control it” and this is shown not only by Msyu going aggre on her target but also with how the deal ended for Kikuchi and Yasushi. It’s painfully obvious how greedy these two are and how they, as they sit at the top duking it selfishly with each other, doesn’t give a damn to what happens should they fall.

From a standpoint, C is becoming an entertaining reflection of reality. Company battles may not be as visually portrayed like in C but watching this episode leaves the impression that somewhere out there, in the big world where corporations duke it out, a company falls and with it, the hopes and dreams of its employees and customers. Man, if I was able to watch C back in my high school years, I would’ve loved our economics class.
