Steins;Gate ep 5: Moe over 9000!!!

Resistance is futile

Now before I go on with this episode, let me just get something out of the way… Makise is moe FUCK IT ALL!!!

Not to mention, all her whining in this episode, c/o Imai Asami has been a pleasurable source of eargasm that I still find myself euphoric after watching the episode… Wheee~

*Ahem*

So going into the episode, we see more of Amane Suzuha’s personality and what seems to be her involvement under the works. On the bright side, I have a feeling that she’s with Okarin and against SERN, shown when she impulsively took guard when she heard a helicopter passing by. Assuming that SERN have indeed established control in that timeline, we could assume that Amane works for a group who opposes SERN and she’s been tasked to go back in time to prevent the occurrence of an event that would change the future. Assuming that this is the case, could this mean that Makise may become affiliated with SERN at some point?

I mean, Amane did prepare herself to fight/take her out but realizing that she’s not yet a threat, she simply decided to let her be. Could this mean that Makise may become a key figure later on in the story where she’ll be joining the antagonists and work against Okarin?

Not to forget, I’m becoming cautious with Mayuri. My alert flag was triggered when she wanted to stay and show Makise around and I was hoping she’ll be staying as Daru fixes up the IBN but she simply decided to go home… Which is weird… or perhaps, I’m just being too paranoid with her sweet smiles? But still, my suspicion of her remains unchanged, For all we know, she probably headed back to hack Daru in order to observe their progress in learning of the truth… but… well… shrugs.

Lastly, I’m enjoying more of Okarin’s character. His laughter is amusing to hear and his antics are crazy but seeing how he recognizes Makise’s genius and advised her to not become involved was quite a manly thing to do.

Mad scientists, ruthless leaders, or simply villains. As long as they show respect and care for their underlings, my hat’s off to them.

For once I agree, lab coats do make people look cool... More so if they actually have the intelligence to back it up 😀

Does anyone know where to buy Dr. Pepper in the Philippines? All this talk about it got me interested

The scene with the lab coats was the funniest part of the episode. I laughed so hard when Okarin asked Makise to stand with her hands in her pockets with him.

It’s kinda cool though and well, it adds more flavor to Okarin’s personality. For a mad scientist, I never expected him to be that cool 😀

Okarin x Kurisu. Totally looking forward to it :3

Seriously speaking though, while the progression of the plot for this series is as slow as a snail, the lively characters keep it entertaining. Okarin as a character is pretty awesome, and his interactions with Makise makes it even better.

Mayushii feels rather useless as a character now, but I bet there will be some sort of major plot twist involving her. There’s no other reason for the show to have her so involved here. Now as to what the plot twist is… who knows. Maybe she’s a member of the “organization” or something lol.

Well, I mentioned in my previous posts how suspicious I am of Mayushii and I guess that she, along with Feiris, is a part of SERN.

With regard to the plot, I think the slow pacing is enough for my stupid brain to analyze… orz… I’m having trouble as it is following physics concept so I simply watch this anime to enjoy myself with loads of Makise and Mayushii (yuri is in the air as Hashida puts it 😀 ) and Okarin’s laughter and the occasional sexual innuendo XD

Well I’ll be… It seems like Suzuha showed her true colors in this episode and dropped a big hint that she may have very well come from the future to prevent some sort of catastrophic event from happening. However, this brought up more questions in terms of character analysis when we base them on what she has revealed so far:
    1. Suzuha knows something about Kurisu and that the latter is a potentially dangerous individual who might have been responsible for causing a certain calamity in the future. At the moment, Kurisu looks to be the kind of person who doesn’t exhibit any suspicious-looking behavior like Mayuri does. Her attitude, particularly towards Okarin, is way too open and straightforward without any signs of ulterior motives other than authentic interest in his time machine. Can we assume that Kurisu is not an antagonist and perhaps rather than willingly affiliate herself with SERN due to whatever motives she might harbor in the future, she could have fallen into some sort of enemy trap which used her (or her knowledge) to trigger an incident? Of course, all of this can be nothing but a ruse to throw viewers off guard. Suzuha did seem very hostile towards Kurisu.
    2. Mayuri is looking more and more suspicious but if she is part of SERN, why doesn’t Suzuha know anything about her role? From the way they interacted, it appears that they both knew of each other for the first time in this current timeline they’re in. Could Mayuri have been a covert through and through from beginning to end, from now until the future? In that case, would she be seen as an “irregular”? The kind of entity which Suzuha didn’t expect to appear in her mission? I suppose one could argue that sometimes, not every information can be shared and not every development can be predicted even if you come from the future and know what will happen (Homerun-chan ^^) so I’m guessing either Mayuri is on Okarin’s side or she’s one hell of a brilliant undercover agent for SERN.

This. I guess the one way to catch suspicious people (like Suzuha) off-guard is to have a front like this. From a standpoint, the fact that Mayuri doesn’t seem to be interested in technology is a good cover-up for her schemes (assuming she is affiliated with the enemy). On another note, we may even see Mayuri working with Suzuha where instead of having Kurisu killed, she’d offer to look after her instead, probably leading Kurisu’s actions in order for her to not become a threat in the future.
