Prelude to one epic shitstorm

Being one of the good manga that I enjoyed reading, Deadman Wonderland is all about Igarashi Ganta who was framed for the slaughter of his friends and was sent to a tourist attraction/prison known as Deadman Wonderland, As the story progress, we see how Ganta’s past catches up to him as he becomes aware of his fate and relationship with the Red Man.

Seeing all those blood forming his energy shot looks fucking epic

The animation is well-made and I have to admit, I missed hearing Paku Romi in her male roles (Edward Elric for FMA and Hitsugaya Toshiro from Bleach) so having her take on the lead role as Igarashi Ganta is a very welcome addition. Voicing Shiro is Kana Hanazawa and while I approve of her role, I am curious as to how she’d take on Shiro at a latter part of the series… when shit finally starts on DW.

As for the first episode itself, I am very much surprised at how they are able to incorporate the very content of chapter 1 from the manga while having a pleasant mix of drama. It was never shown in the manga what happened during Ganta’s trial or the feelings and emotions bottled up with the family of his friends but this narrative only adds more to Ganta’s despair especially during that scene where Ganta was confronted by Mimi’s father. It was a very emotional scene and I have to applaud Paku Romi for the dramatic impact that she gave.

Ganta's cracking voice portrayed by Romi Park emphasizes the dramatic theme of this episode

Seeing that this anime will run for 12 episodes, I think they plan on ending this season with up to Scar Chain before going to tackle on Forgeries. I have no problems with that as long as they manage to not mess everything up. Overall, this is a solid first episode for the this series. Though I wonder what others think of this anime =/

MINATSUKI!!!!! XD

Now that you mentioned it, the Scar Chain arc is made up of the escape attempt and “final confrontation” before they went off and introduced the forgeries =/

damn… this suddenly made me feel that DW had long arcs despite running with so little chapters
