Episodic Highlights: Iroha ep 2

This manuscript deserves an award alright though I think this is best made as a doujin

Quite an enjoyable episode with a cliffhanger ending(?) that can either be taken seriously or comically but going back, despite most strong-willed characters who are too hard-headed to adapt to the situation, I find it likable for Ohana to suddenly embrace the situation that she’s at (no, not the surprise pedo raep) and decide for herself to change despite being trained by her bullshit mom to never rely on others.

Is this your way of saying 'Here kitty, kitty?'

Out of curiosity, limiting only to this anime’s setting, is this anime portraying a negative image that writers (Ohana’s mom and Tarou Jiroumaru) are total jerks?

    I’d say her mother is more of an air head and an idiot than a jerk but it indeed can be seen that way.

    lol 😀

    but regardless of how we see her, she is still annoying as hell. And here I was hoping that she did something worthy of being a mother. Not only did she run away from her daughter, she also pushed her ideals into her especially the negative ones. I find it surprising that Ohana didn’t end up being like her

    Oh yes, have you seen the full and translated manuscript that was posted on Cowboybibimbop’s soup? If I let my imagination run wild enough, it almost sounded like a potential yuri smut fic. But yeah, that’s just my twisted fantasy doing its usual rounds. :p

    That’s quite an interesting chain reaction going on there wrt the relationships involving the mothers and daughters in this series. Knowing how Ohana’s grandmother’s attitude is all strict and uptight-like, I wonder if Ohana’s mother behaving irresponsibly was caused by her own mother’s harsh upbringing. It’s something of a pattern I noticed before in real life where a child rebels against the parents for being too strict with them and when they grow up and have kids of their own, they swore never to exercise and impose the same style of rigid upbringing on their kids. Assuming Ohana’s mother was disowned by the grandmother early on, she could have grown up and lived like the tactless delinquent she is now, not knowing what proper parenting is supposed to be like. Consequently, that behavior of hers spawned a rather unique “reaction” from Ohana who grew up having a personality that is almost the opposite of her mother’s. Perhaps something like “Ugh, she gives me SO much trouble. I NEVER want to be like her!”. Ah, psychology is such a fascinating thing…

    No… wait… WHAT?! runs off to cowboy’s soup……

    my mind just crashed and burned 😀

    quite an interesting take on that and this could be the very case. I guess the more that Ohana hated her mom, the more she refuses to become like her. Ironically, if Ohana’s mother did the same thing during her youth, then we can pattern out that

    Grandmother is strict (-) -> Ohana’s mom rebels (-)
    Ohana’s mom is irresponsible because of her rebellion (-) -> Ohana grows up to be unlike her (+)

    hmm… a positive trait coming from something negative? but for now let us see if she’d start behaving the same way her mother was when she’s young. Imo, Ohana’s grandmother seems to be the type to give off tough love to her family and perhaps, Ohana’s mom interpreted that wrongly. Maybe if Ohana manages to warm her up, the grandmother may start referencing her similarities with her mother which would be quite interesting considering that Ohana’s uncle seem to have a grudge on her mom 😀
