Medaka Box ch 91: I could never wish for any better resolution

Because she made an enemy out of everyone that's why she's loved

Medaka reformed people, from her friends to her enemies, changing the way they view the world, but she never changed their hearts out of their own will.

Looking back at all their adventures, not even once did Medaka force a person to change when it comes to personality. She simply showed them a different way of living their lives. For instance, during the swim meet arc where the student council fought against Yakushima, Tanegashima, and Kikaijima (before she became the treasurer). Medaka was mad at them not simply because of how greedy they are when it comes to money but because they are burning away their lives just for the sake of it. She even compliments them on how amazing it would’ve been if their dream of swimming in a pool of money came true but reprimands that it won’t happen if they die early.

It’s actually surprising that I wasn’t able to notice this recurring detail in every new arc of Medaka Box. I guess the excellent narrative for each arc, backed up with epic lines and cool fighting scenes grabbed my attention most, if not, all of the time, deviating it from the obvious motivation that runs this series which I think IS cool. Recurring themes have been a template for newer works of entertainment after all. It’s appeal factor would only be decided the delivery and uniqueness of the content and I guess, it has been the very reason that I came to enjoy Medaka Box.

That aside, I wonder what will happen to Kumagawa and Class – 13 now. Since winning the match feels rather insignificant at this point and since Medaka never really plan on changing Kumagawa out of his own, free will, the only question that remains would be “Was Kumagawa Misogi’s outlook in life changed?”

Stripping away the absurdity, the effects, the abilities like “All Fiction” or “Bookmaker”, Kumagawa is just like any other human. He, who has stood up for his people, class – 13, was in reality, reflecting the inner turmoils of his personality as a human being. He represented all of them; the unfortunate, the outcast, the weak and the ridiculed and from this, we can say that his current personality was born; the one who envies the fortunate and despises them for their happiness despite the fact that there are a lot of people who are deprived of such blessings. This is who Kumagawa Misogi is. His personality, his habits, his self-indulgence in lies and deception will not change but what about his outlook in life?

This chapter exceeded my expectations and with this, I could’ve never asked for a better resolution to Kumagawa and Medaka’s fight

The mere fact that you decide to rise up is proof of strength, huh...

Because the best way to resolve this is to leave it as it is
