Dance in the Vampire Bund ep 5: High school angst on the way

Despite the mixups of certain manga events in this episode, it’s glad to see how DEVIOUSLY GOOD the political side of Mina is. Her methods may be crude but she’s not doing it for her own benefit unlike the Prime Minister of Japan (in this anime). She’s willing to take risks and get her hands dirty for the sake of her kind, for them to be given a place they would call home. With the political side of Bund back on the role, the only issue left would be in Akira being nerfed down (again!). Even his reason for losing his memories sounded stupid! What’s more, he gets beaten by high school vampires (THESE AREN’T EVEN MERCENARIES YET!) and gets the help of anime original character, Miha (or was it Meirin? whatever, she sounded like Yu Kobayashi so let’s go with Miha), that seems to be one of Alphonse’s men…. women(?)… whatever.

Despite the comedic start, things finally got down to the high school angst which displeases me. Maybe it’s because of the manga influence but for some reason, I really hate how this anime became pretty much like ‘Twilight’

WTF?! was there enough reason for Akira to FALL ON SCHOOL GROUNDS AND LOSE HIS FRIGGIN MEMORY?!

I SERIOUSLY hope that isn’t the real reason why Akira lost his memories. An extremely traumatic experience, fine. An extremely violent encounter with a badass opponent, fine. But if the reason turned out to be some effin’ head concussion from a little fall, puh-lease give us a break =_=. In the manga, Akira has been slammed into debris, walls, floors etc. until those structures BROKE and he didn’t even lose his memories. Weren’t werewolves in VampBund supposed to be super resilient? >_>

I’m glad to see them further exploring Mina’s character when it comes to politics. I just love how people underestimate her because she looks like a loli and she screws them over with threats that are actually sensible e.g. vampires abiding by human rules. This is how Mina should be in imposing her authority over the issue of the bund’s establishment. On to other matters, I’m curious as to what Meirin’s role is. She looks like an Anime original character as far as I’m concerned and for this, I’m a bit apprehensive about labeling her as one of Alphonse’s subordinates. Maybe she saved Akira because she wanted to keep him alive for her own personal ambitions? Also, ugh… I dislike the way things are going between Akira and Yuki. Not that I hate Yuki or anything (even though I find her annoying during the earlier parts of the story), but the romantic tension between them is turning into a very contrived and banal affair. To quote you, Twilight.

Anyway, now that they’re actually trying to follow the mood and plot of the manga, these recent developments simply made the first two episodes look petty and stupid. It’s as though Shinbo and his team wanted to do a whack job with the series and then gave up halfway and decided to follow the manga.

and yuuki aoi is doing a very good job showing Mina’s bitchiness XD

for some reason, she resembled the 1st assassin’s appearance. i hope this isn’t what they had in mind since it would surely suck as Akira might have another ‘dilemma’ when the time comes he’d fight her

like what rei said, I would’ve liked it if she were a side character like in the manga :p

it’s kind of a waste in terms of budget considering how they f*cked up the 1st 2 episodes… 😦

True. Hmm… Though I can’t recall whether her personality was like that. The one in the manga was hired by Ivanovic to dispatch of Akira, right? She behaves almost like a puppet whereas Meirin seems to act rather differently, almost like another person all together if you will. I have to admit, they do look somewhat similar and I wonder if Meirin is also one of those new breeds of vampire, or whether she’s even a vampire at all. Her eyes look different.

I would’ve liked it if she were a side character like in the manga :p

Hopefully the huge fight between Mina and Akira will happen soon, maybe in the next episode. That way, Yuki will be demoted to side chara almost immediately after witnessing the scene at the end. For now PFTTT, Akira and Yuki need to stop staring at each others’ nekkid bodies. >_>
